Chelle & Romany

,

If your horse or pony could talk, what would they say about you?
(Or your sheep, dog, cat, ferret – you get the idea).

Thanks to Rachael Beesley of Equisentient Coaching I recently had the chance to find out.

I’ve long been fascinated by animal communication, it literally blows my mind, but I’ve been reluctant to try it myself, as I was utterly convinced all of my shortcomings as an owner would be laid bare.

So it was with some trepidation I took part in one of Rachael’s virtual demos, along with 5 others, to have a chat to Romany. When I say trepidation, seriously, I was sweating bullets 😂

And the first words he said? “She doesn’t always get it right, but she does always try her best”. Honestly, I was shocked. There are times when I don’t have the time, money or energy I feel he deserves, and I beat myself up over it. I assumed he would too. My heart just melted.

We also established he’s picked up some less than flowery vocabulary from me – yep, he dropped the F bomb. I don’t know whether to be #mortified or #sorrynotsorry 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

There are three things about Rachael I really like. Firstly, she’s not at all woo woo. Secondly, she’s a lovely, straightforward, bubbly person who instantly puts you at ease. And thirdly, I like her for her ethics. One of the things she said really resonated with me – “I don’t want to read his diary as it were, I won’t get into his head, I take only the information he offers”.

I had another chat with him, via Rachael, at the weekend. He bought up a few things he’d been thinking about, and I was able to explain a few things to him. It is very clear he has an opinion about everything! Even me. He finished by telling me he wasn’t very impressed with people he met earlier in his life. And he didn’t expect to, or want to, like me very much. But he’s come to love me. I truly couldn’t ask for anything more.

Now I didn’t tell you all that so you know what a brilliant owner I am. Not at all. I’m telling you so that next time you beat yourself up over something you have or haven’t done, you stop, and just give your horse a hug. Chances are, he knows you’re doing your best. And loves you for it.”

I learnt after the Demo that Chelle makes “luxury, sustainable ethical design-led jewellery for horse lovers (and non-horse lovers)” as Storm & Grace, the horsey jeweller and discovered her Instagram account, it’s definitely worth taking a look at her creations. I often have a giggle in response to her candid and humorous reflections about being a pony custodian aka butler.
